Thesis Menu Comments

Purpose - Your claim should clearly articulate the purpose of your paper (e.g., persuade, assess, describe, explain, etc.) (Turabian Chapter 5, 5.3 and 5.4, p. 51-52).

Rationale - Each thesis should have clearly developed rationale in the literature (Chapter 5, 5.4.2, p. 53).

Location - The thesis statement should be located very early in your paper (Chapter 10, 10.1.4, p. 107-108).

Thesis Missing - The thesis or thesis statement is missing.

Unclear - The thesis needs to be clearer and more concise.

Single Sentence - The thesis should be clearly stated in a single sentence.

Operationally Define Terms - If a thesis statement contains words or concepts that would be considered operational definitions, these definitions need to be explained as well.
